Resonant Soundscapes
Carillon, Organ & Electronics Series
Garrett Schumann, Sara Tea, and Julie Zhu invite the community to reflect in a wash of electronic and acoustic sound at the first event of the Resonant Soundscapes performance series on the evening of Sunday, November 3. Join us from 5:30–6 pm for a sound tour of the Charles Baird Carillon, Burton Memorial Tower, and Ingalls Mall that features carillon improvisation and an ambient electronic headphone listening experience.
Attendees are invited to use earbuds and smartphones to listen to new electronic music created by Schumann and Tea as they explore Burton Memorial Tower and the surrounding area, all while accompanied by Zhu's improvised carillon performance.
The presentation blends the sound of bells with electronic textures to emphasize the meaningful resonances that emerge between individuals and the space they occupy.
The Resonant Soundscapes performance series is supported by the University of Michigan Arts Initiative and the Ann Arbor District Library. Free and open to the public.
