Our first meeting will reground us in the question of: "What is inclusive or equitable teaching anyway?" Our group has changed since we started in 2018 and I hope it will be helpful to revisit a couple of definitions of what we're here to talk about in the first place.

One definition comes from CRLT: https://crlt.umich.edu/overview-equity-focused-teaching-michigan (and I found it oft-quoted on other university websites!)

Another (list of practices) comes from AMS: https://www.ams.org/learning-careers/leaders/inclusive-classrooms

And finally, a linked toolkit from Yale provides both some framework as well as practices: https://poorvucenter.yale.edu/FacultyResources/Diversity-Inclusion

Read what you're able of those resources, but know that no reading is required to attend!

Some (possible) overarching questions for our meeting will be:
- what is YOUR definition of inclusive teaching?
- which, if any, of these resources help advance your idea and practice of inclusive teaching? What resources are missing?
- how do you know if you're "doing it right"?
