In this talk, we will see how the problem of solving a sudoku algebraically+algorithmically can motivate the notion of Gröbner Bases. We will see how this motivating example relates to the algebraic definition of Gröbner bases and some of their useful properties. Time permitting, we will see this put in practice by having mathematica solve a (potentially extremely simple) sudoku.
