Melancholy Order is a dance-theatre work situated in research on the lived conditions of first-generation immigrant communities. Melancholy Order employs parody, humor, exhilaration, and experimental choreography to reveal resilience and complexity. The piece emphasizes how movement vocabularies embody histories of discipline, punishment, resistance, and cultural negotiation.
The production team includes choreographer Ginny Jiang, lighting designer Tianxuan Chen, stage designer Siyin Yan, and costume designer Ruoxuan Li. All are Asian diaspora artists whose migration experiences deeply inform the creative process.
Dance Artists: Aaliyah Brown, Amy Liu, Bridghaite Lemrow-Collazo-Rosario, Eve Anderson, Hope Hanna-Casupang, Sarah Lau, and Zamora Tamminga.
The performance will be followed by a light reception at the Perry Kasper Granoff Studio.
