Briggs Chamber Music Competition

The Briggs Competition is made possible by support from the Dale & Nancy Briggs Chamber Music Endowed Enrichment Fund and is named in honor of its benefactors. The fund was established in 2004 and endowed in 2006, to support program and/or scholarship needs in chamber music.
The annual competition was launched in 2014, with guest judges selecting winners from groups representing the breadth of SMTD’s chamber music offerings.
Groups perform mini-recitals of 25 minutes, showcasing the breadth of their work throughout the year. Prizes are given to the top three groups, plus honorable mentions and a Michigan Prize for the best performance of a piece written by a Michigan composer.
Noon to 6:00 pm Timing Tentative. Exact timing of this event will be updated closer to the competition date.
There will be a reception and winners' announcement in Kevreson Hall after the final performances.
