Spilling the beans and brewing excitement: Coffee and tea around the world
Third Thursdays at the Library
We invite you to explore materials highlighting traditions, objects, and spaces related to cultivation and consumption of coffee and tea across Africa, South and Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe. We'll also feature a selection of materials documenting their social and environmental impact in regions represented in our collections.
Coffee and tea have conquered and connected the world. They have become deeply embedded in social customs and rituals, stimulated intellectual discussions, and inspired artistic work as well as fueled both travel and global trade.
Join us for Third Thursdays at the Library, a themed monthly open house where we share materials from our collections.
While you’re here, pick up a passport and collect a stamp from each of the Third Thursday Open Houses — the Clark Library, International Studies, and the Special Collections Research Center — to win a prize!
