Unbowed, Unbroken: A Lurie Carillon Concert
MLK Symposium
As part of the MLK Symposium, the U-M Carillon Guild presents a Lurie Carillon concert of music by Black composers and songwriters across genre and period, including Emmy-award-winning Jasmine Arielle Barnes’ In-Visibility (2024), Robert Slavit’s “Freedom is a Constant Struggle,” arranged by Yvette Janine Jackson, and Florence Price’s Adoration, arranged by Tiffany Ng. Carillonists Adam Lenhart, Sarah Penrose, and Meghan Wysocki will perform as part of the Carillon Guild at the University of Michigan.
Visitors may take the elevator to level 2 to view the largest bells, or to level 3 to see the carillonist performing. (Visitors subject to acrophobia are recommended to visit level 2 only.) An optional spiral stairway between levels 2 and 3 allows for up-close views of some of the largest bells.
