RTG Topology Geometry Dynamics. ERGODIC METHODS IN COMBINATORICS AND NUMBER THEORY

Florian Richter (EPFL)

This talk provides an introduction to the use of ergodic theory in combinatorics and number theory. We discuss how questions about arithmetic patterns can be translated into problems of recurrence in measure-preserving dynamical systems, and how structure theorems for such systems can be used to analyze them. We also highlight more recent developments connecting these ideas with multiplicative number theory, illustrating how ergodic methods continue to drive progress across different areas.
