Finite Generation of MCG(S_{g,n})

The first four chapters of A Primer on Mapping Class Groups by Benson Farb and Dan Margalit give an introduction to the topic, and build up to the proof of finite generation for compact, orientable surfaces. In this talk we'll see the main mechanics that are used to complete the proof and lastly explore some of the essential objects to the proof, such as the complex of curves and point-pushing maps.
