In 1950, a grieving husband moves his two teenage daughters from Florida to Brooklyn, burying himself inside a timely spiritual movement. Intellectually curious and tentatively embracing city life, seventeen year old Ernestine navigates her unpredictable family dynamics amidst evolving political, racial, and religious landscapes.
