Long’s work over the last fifty years has significantly explored and expanded the boundaries of the field of History of Religions. He is a Professor Emeritus from the UC Santa Barbara, University of Chicago, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University and Syracuse University, and the renowned author of Alpha, The Myths of Creation; The History of Religions: Essays in Understanding, ed. with Joseph Kitagawa; and Significations: Signs, Symbols and Images in the Interpretation of Religion.
