As we send our new graduates out into the world, we celebrate their accomplishments with a program of music by living composers. This collection includes a popular piece by the newly awarded Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and U-M alum Gabriela Lena Frank as well as two new commissions in which the Symphony Band participated. With the support of the H. Robert Reynolds Commissioning Fund, the Symphony Band presents a brand new symphony by celebrated Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, and a new flute concerto by American composer John Mackey, featuring our own faculty member, Prof. Amy Porter.
