Revisiting Sullivan's Dictionary
Malavika Mukundan, Boston University
Sullivan's dictionary is a correspondence between the dynamics of rational maps on the Riemann sphere and the action of Kleinian groups. For example, Julia sets correspond to limit sets, and the no wandering domains theorem, proved by Dennis Sullivan, corresponds to Ahlfors' finiteness theorem. In this talk, we will survey the present state of the dictionary, make some broader analogies and briefly discuss partial results with the intent of extending this dictionary, which includes some joint work with Yongquan Zhang.
