Student Algebraic Geometry: Reconstruction Theorems

Ritwick Bhargava

Gabriel's reconstruction theorem states that a noetherian scheme can be fully recovered from its abelian category of quasi-coherent sheaves. This motivates noncommutative algebraic geometry, which advocates viewing any abelian category as a category of sheaves on a "noncommutative space". I will sketch two approaches to the proof and discuss extensions to the derived and stacky settings.
