Visitors often ask docents such questions as, “Did the ancient Egyptians worship animals?” and “Did the ancient Egyptians mummify their pets?” The answer to all such questions is, “It’s complicated!” In today’s tour, we will dive into the topic by looking at animal forms of some Egyptian gods. We will also view some mummified animals and coffins and think about just what they might have meant to the Egyptians.
