Wisdom and discernment in research
The American Culture Consortium RIW reading group will discuss chapter 2 and the second interlude, "(ill)legible, (Il)liberal Subjects: Charles Alexander Eastman's Poetics of Withholding," in Christopher Pexa's Translated Nation: Rewriting the Dakhota Oyate. We will discuss the discernment and wisdom of "withholding" to record and to protect cultural knowledge in Eastman's early 20th century texts.
