CWPS Artist in Residence Lecture. "The Role of a Queen Mother in Asante Culture"

CWPS welcomes Nana Kwadwo Nyantakyi III (Sanaahene) and Nana Afia Adoma II (Queen) to the University of Michigan for one month during the fall of 2014. As a matrilineal society, Akan Queens are entrusted with lineage history, values, the complex political hierarchy, and succession procedures. While in Ann Arbor, they will share valuable first-hand experience with students at the University of Michigan about the Akan in Ghana.
