The Great War created an urgency — and opportunity — to understand the history and culture of the Near and Far East. This panel will discuss the University’s move toward its destiny to become a global research site tied to imperial and colonial policies in Asia, the Pacific, and around the world. This panel features Allan Lumba (University of Michigan), Andrew Patrick (Tennessee State University), Victoria Reyes (University of Michigan), Robert Vitalis (University of Pennsylvania), and Colleen Woods (University of Maryland).

This LSA Bicentennial Theme Semester event is presented with support from the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts and the University of Michigan Bicentennial Office. Additional support provided by the Department of History, and the Eisenberg Institute for Historical Studies.
