Professor Mark Clague explores how processes of translation and transformation trace the meaning of Francis Scott Key’s 200-year old song in its journey from broadside to victory ballad, protest to national anthem and back again with Laura Becker, curator of African Art, soprano Jennifer Goltz, and others in connection with the exhibition Traces: Reconstructing the History of a Chokwe Mask.
