As a culmination of the Richard Hageman Study Day at U-M, South Africa-born pianist and SMTD alumnus (MM ’07) Nico de Villiers will present a lecture-recital featuring U-M student singers in which he will introduce Richard Hageman as a song and film composer. de Villiers is a Coach at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as the co-author of a short biography on Richard Hageman entitled Making the Tailcoats Fit. He holds degrees from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, U-M, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. This event was made possible through the collaboration of the Richard Hageman Society, SMTD, the International Center of American Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Hampsong Foundation.
