Frederick W. Mayer Frederick W. Mayer
Frederick W. Mayer
Join us for a talk with Fred Mayer, the University Planner at U-M from 1968 to 2003, and author of A Setting for Excellence: The Story of the Planning and Development of the Ann Arbor Campus of the University of Michigan. Drawing on his book, Mayer will discuss the history and development of campus. After the talk, explore the Stephen S. Clark Library’s newest exhibit, Creating a Campus: A Cartographic Celebration of U-M’s Bicentennial, which was greatly inspired by Mayer’s book.

A Setting For Excellence is available from University of Michigan Press, and copies can be purchased at the event with the author available to sign copies.
