SMTD@UMMA Performance: Angles of Abstraction

Assistant Professor of Percussion Jonathan Ovalle presents an eclectic program of 20th and 21st century music on themes of abstraction and exploration as illustrated by the UMMA exhibition Victors for Art: Michigan's Alumni Collectors—Part II: Abstraction. Students and faculty from the U-M School of Music, Theater & Dance join him in performing cutting-edge works by Morton Feldman, Missy Mazzoli, Hannah Lash, Viet Cuong, Aaron Siegel, and John Cage.

The SMTD@UMMA performance series is generously supported by the Katherine Tuck Enrichment Fund and the Greg Hodes and Heidi Hertel Hodes—Partners in the Arts Endowment Fund.

Lead support for Victors for Art: Michigan's Alumni Collectors is provided by the University of Michigan Office of the Provost, Michigan Medicine, the University of Michigan Office of the President, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts, and the University of Michigan Bicentennial Office.
