We're organizing a birdwatching event for the department and you're invited. Sandhill cranes gather this time of year before their southward migration, and the Haehnle bird sanctuary is a great place to see them. There should be plenty of other bird species as well. The sanctuary is about 40 minutes west of Ann Arbor.
We're looking for drivers with personal vehicles to help with carpooling. For those participating in carpooling, let's meet at the Kraus parking lot on Sunday, November 5, at 3 p.m. Vehicles will leave at 3:15 p.m. sharp. If you aren't carpooling, you can meet us directly at the sanctuary at ~4:00 p.m. The best time to see cranes is just before dusk, and sunset is at 5:23 p.m. that evening. We should be back in Ann Arbor by 6:30 or 7:00 p.m., if not earlier.
