The current study investigates how individual speakers employ these multiple cues to prosodic boundaries in speech production and perception. The study aims to examine (1) how speakers utilize various properties in conveying the prosodic aspects of speech, (2) how listeners integrate these prosodic cues in speech perception, and (3) whether there is a relation between (1) and (2) at the level of the individual language user: that is, does a speaker’s production of prosodic patterns influence their perceptual use of those patterns? In this talk, I will mainly discuss the motivations for and implications of my dissertation.
