“O Canada! Part One”

The Percussion Ensemble looks at music from Canadian composers and performers this semester over two different concerts (second concert later this year). Celebrating "...the true north strong and free, from far and wide..." the Percussion Ensemble will perform works by Canadians Ann Southam and Dinuk Wijeratne. Canadian percussionist and composer Bob Becker is featured in his work Mudra with soloist Colin McCall and Steve Reich's Nagoya Marimbas written for Becker and fellow Canadian and NEXUS Percussion Ensemble founder Russell Hartenberger. Works by the percussion pioneer Johanna Beyer will be featured; other works include compositions by Marc Mellits, Ben Wahlund, Mark Applebaum, and Glenn Kotche
