Based in Taipei, The National Chinese Orchestra is the premier orchestra of traditional Chinese instruments from Taiwan. The 2018 Michigan tour will feature a 10-piece chamber ensemble, performing original works and works based on traditional Taiwanese folk music for solo instruments and chamber ensembles. Three works on the program will feature SMTD faculty members in cross-cultural collaboration with the ensemble. SMTD faculty members appearing on the program are Amy Porter, Matt Albert, and Amy I-Lin Cheng. Reception to follow.
