"An Evening of World Premieres"
Join SMTD for the virtual premiere of “An Evening of World Premieres,” performed by the University Philharmonia Orchestra. Originally performed in February 2020, this annual concert of new works by student composers, led by student conductors, and played by student musicians is often one of the most inspiring concerts of the year.
The program includes:
William Appleton- "Binary Variations" (Elias Miller, conductor)
Dayton Hare- "Vanishing Point" (Tal Benatar, conductor)
Noah Fishman- "Following Seas" (Christopher Gaudreault, conductor)
J. Clay Gonzalez- "before your eyes" (Leonard Bopp, conductor)
Henry Dickson- "Uncharted" (Nathan Bieber, conductor)
Throughout the virtual premiere, Adrian Slywotzky, interim associate director of orchestras, student composers, student conductors, and members of the UPO will be answering your questions in the video’s comments section. Learn about the performance, rehearsal process, the collaboration between the composition and conducting departments, and much more.
"An Evening of World Premieres" is the fourth performance of SMTD’s new virtual performance series #SMTDPresents.
