Summer Carillon Series: Michelle Lam

University of Michigan graduate student Michelle Lam presents a lively program on the 60-bell Lurie Carillon, honoring the class of 2020 and challenging audiences to "Guess that Piece!"

Concert program available at https://gobluebells.wordpress.com/2020/07/14/lam-2020/

Concerts are free and family-friendly. We kindly ask that attendees support physical distancing practices by bringing picnic blankets and lawn chairs and responsibly spacing themselves throughout Gerstacker Grove, and we encourage wearing masks when conversing with people from other households.

PayStation parking is available behind the Walgreen Drama Center (https://ltp.umich.edu/lot/?xyz=fG) and the lots behind the Beyster Building (https://ltp.umich.edu/lot/?xyz=fZ), as well in other North Campus lots.

Michelle S. Lam is the current carillonist at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church. She has been playing carillon for over ten years, starting from when she was an undergraduate at Wellesley College. She currently also plays carillon at the University of Michigan, and has just completed her first year of learning organ. She recently won the 2020 GCNA Barnes Grant with Dr. Elisa Tersigni for a project studying the evolution of carillon culture North America. While she is not performing, Michelle is doing research in international trade and labor to complete her PhD in economics at the University of Michigan. Michelle's hobbies include crafting tea-based drinks, collecting postcards, and learning magic tricks.
