Presented by The Ark
Cecilia Noël is passionate, flamboyant, exotic, and incredibly talented. "Salsoul," the genre Cecilia created to describe her sound, combines elements of salsa, soul, jazz, funk, and Afro-Cuban music. Originally from Lima, Peru, Cecilia's career began at age eight with a starring role in a Peruvian television show. Encouraged by the legendary Stan Getz to move to the U.S., Cecilia relocated to New York City and sang at the legendary Rainbow Room, and as a principal dancer with Jo Jo’s Dance Factory and with the boy band Menudo. She moved to Los Angeles in 1989, and, her “James Brown meets Pérez Prado" band, Cecilia Noël And The Wild Clams quickly received attention for their explosive live shows and became one of the most powerful and entertaining live music acts in Los Angeles, and beyond, over the last 20 years. Since then Cecilia has recorded with musicians from around the Latin American world, and she also performs and records with her husband, former Men at Work frontman and great friend of The Ark, Colin Hay.
