RTG Seminar on Geometry, Dynamics and Topology Seminar

Bowen's approach to counting of compact flats in higher rank

I will give a rough account of the little known about compact flats, and their counting for higher rank locally symmetric spaces, or Anosov R^k actions for that matter. These are very old results, and lousy but they may give a perspective on what can be done without number theory.
There will be several homework problems (but no final).

This seminar will be on zoom: https://umich.zoom.us/j/92258297975
