"Adopt a Piece of History" Fest
Clements Library Virtual Special Event
The Clements Library invites one and all to a virtual festivity inspired by our Adopt a Piece of History program! Enjoy a collage of vignettes highlighting rare historical specimens, stories, music, and backstage views of our work. “Adopting” materials at the Clements—giving towards the costs of acquisition, conservation, and digitization—directly supports the preservation of past knowledge and voices for ongoing study. Join us as we appreciate the primary source value of such works and applaud the philanthropic impact of supporters.
Program
6:45pm - Doors Open. Our host talks informally with donors about what inspired them to Adopt a Piece of History; guests are invited to join in the conversation using Chat.
7:05pm - A Toast (Historic cocktail & soft drink recipes shared with registrants in advance)
7:10pm - A collage spectacle of highlights from Books, Maps, Manuscripts, Graphics, Conservation, and Digitization at the Clements Library
8:15pm - Opportunity to ask the curators questions about items available for adoption and the Clements collections in general
Adopt a Piece of History is a digital and commemorative program that strengthens the Clements Library’s collections and preserves them for the future. It presents a wonderful opportunity to recognize donors and honor others through a Virtual Bookplate.
