Pre-concert lecture at 7:15PM.

The University Symphony Orchestra (USO) and University Philharmonia Orchestra invite you to "dance the night away" with a concert of Hungarian and Russian music of the dance. The concert opens with the entertaining and fantastical Dances of Galanta by Zoltán Kodály, followed by Mussorgsky’s Songs and and Dances of Death, with soloist Alan Williams, a winner of the 2021 SMTD Concerto Competition. The concert reaches epic proportions when the two orchestras join forces for the pivotal work that" blew the lid off" orchestral music and the world of dance when it was premiered in Paris in 1913, The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky.

PROGRAM:
Ballet Music from Idomeneo - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Dances of Galanta - Zoltán Kodály
Songs and Dances of Death - Modest Mussorgsky
The Rite of Spring - Igor Stravinsky
