Symmetric functions and representation of symmetric groups

Both symmetric functions and symmetric groups have a rich combinatorial structure and we can describe these structures using Young Tableaux.
In this talk, we will talk about how to describe these structures with Young tableaux.
This talk will consist of three parts.
1) Symmetric functions and the structure of the ring of symmetric functions.
2) Bumping algorithm and the RSK (Robinson-Schensted-Knuth) correspondence.
3) Representation of symmetric groups and their relation to symmetric functions. Speaker(s): Hyunsuk Kim (UM)
