Wave Kinetic Equation for NLS

We will introduce and motivate Wave Turbulence Theory through the NLS (Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation). We will begin with a brief introduction to the NLS and the methods used to prove some local existence result. Then, we will discuss the main ideas of Boltzmann's Kinetic Theory. Finally, we will bring the two topics together by introducing the Wave Kinetic Equation (WKE) for the NLS and diving into some of the techniques used in establishing it. This talk will only require basic knowledge of Probability and Fourier Analysis and will not be a detail-oriented talk. Speaker(s): Katja Vassilev (UM)
