Frobenius functor and finite projective dimension

Over a local complete intersection ring in positive characteristic, we shall see that the Frobenius functor, i.e. base change along the Frobenius map detects whether a module has finite projective dimension. This result of S.P. Dutta can be thought of as a partial converse to Peskine-Szpiro's celebrated result: the Frobenius functor applied to the resolution of a module of finite projective dimension produces another resolution.
