Student Algebraic Geometry Seminar

Coding Theory from the lens of Algebraic Geometry

Coding theory is the study of error-correction for communication over a noisy channel, with many applications ranging from satellite communication to QR codes. In this talk, I will explain error-correcting codes from a geometric perspective, and introduce Algebraic-Geometric (AG) codes, a family of codes enjoying structured algebraic properties and asymptotically optimal parameters. No prerequisite on coding theory is needed. Speaker(s): Quang Dao (UM)
