Join us for a talk with Alex B. Hill, adjunct professor at Wayne State University and principal cartographer for DETROITography (https://detroitography.com/), a project conceived and curated by him that creates and features maps of Detroit.
Join us in person in the Clark Library (on the 2nd floor of the Hatcher Library) or register to join us virtually via Zoom: https://myumi.ch/n8DDN
Events past and present have shaped Detroit’s physical geography as well as our perceptions of its shape — not only spatially, but also as it pertains to identity and sense of community. DETROITography places emphasis on the unique way that people within the city think about space and place — their own idiosyncratic demographics and pathways and memories, all offering an array of insights and directives as to the exact location of Detroit embedded within history, but at the same time, transformative related to dominant narratives of the city.
