Movies and TV often show archaeologists searching for mummies and huge golden artifacts. But is that what archaeology is really all about? Have you ever wondered how real-life archaeologists learn about the lives of ancient people? Or what a “museum of archaeology" is, anyway?

In this tour, we explore how archaeologists use ancient artifacts such as writing tablets, foods, and household goods—in combination with their contexts—to better understand the lives of people in the ancient world.

Masks are optional inside the Kelsey Museum. For more information about our COVID procedures and how to prepare for your visit, please visit our website, https://myumi.ch/9PG1P.

Saturday Sampler tours are free and open to all visitors. If you are a person with a disability who requires accommodation to attend this tour, please contact the education office (734-647-4167 or kelsey.ed@umich.edu) at least two weeks in advance. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the University to arrange.
