Abstract: Digital twins will empower scientists to engineer biology. In this talk, I will present the construction of a data-guided, universal network for the human genome. From this universal network called the Hardwired Genome (HWG), we can query cell-type-specific wiring and explore how perturbations affect information flow. I will also introduce a numerical prototype which extends hardwiring theory to tissue dynamics and is based on the Kuramoto oscillator, called the Mesmerizer, developed with Steve Smale and Cleve Moler. Finally, I will discuss how combining the HWG and the Mesmerizer can lay the foundation for digital biology.
