How can instructors across the disciplines support the public mission of higher education? Join us for a conversation exploring deliberative pedagogy, a teaching approach designed to prepare and motivate students to collaborate across differences on the pressing issues facing our democracy. Drawing on cases from Deliberative Pedagogy: Teaching and Learning for Democratic Engagement (2017)—co-edited by recent Promoting Democracy Teaching Series speaker Dr. Nicholas Longo—we will consider practical strategies for designing learning experiences that help students navigate complex challenges through dialogue, deliberation, and equitable decision-making.
