Algebraic Geometry Seminar: Stable map resolutions of Richardson varieties
Allen Knutson (Cornell)
Given a circle action S on a projective variety X, we introduce the "stable map quotient" using Kontsevich's space of stable maps of curves. In the case that X is a Richardson variety (the intersection of a Schubert with an opposite Schubert variety), generally very singular, the quotient is nonetheless smooth! I'll use this to give a log resolution of Richardson varieties, and describe the dual simplicial complex to the anticanonical sncd boundary.
